Mannanoligosaccharides (MOS) are complex carbohydrates derived from the cell wall of selected strains of the yeast Saccharomyces Cerevisiae. All of effects MOS has on the performance of animals result in improved performance, and the scientific literature has shown that both growth rate and feed efficiency have been improved when the MOS product was provided in the diets of piglets post weaning and during the growing-finishing period. Dr Jules Taylor Pickard from Alltech reviews all available sow studies for the response to MOS product and suggests possible modes of action for any positive response obtained.
