How livestock production, health and welfare are done will radically change over the next decade. Waves of innovation in the form of precision livestock technologies are coming to livestock and protein production. These technology waves will be comprised of any of four fundamental categories – diagnostics, devices, digital platforms and data analytics. Dale D. Polson, Boehringer Ingelheim, explores the benefits of these new technologies, concluding that to fulfil our shared purpose of feeding the world as contributors to livestock and protein production we must be prepared to discover and embrace those which help us achieve that purpose.
