In this paper, Jean Szkotnicki, President of the Canadian Animal Health Institute, provides an overview of the international standards impacting antimicrobial resistance and use in Canada and the actions Canada is taking to align with global standards and meet domestic needs. These actions include regulatory changes, re-evaluation of veterinary and production practices and alternatives to antimicrobials being considered.
