Burns Pet Nutrition, a family company in Wales that makes specialist foods designed for the health and wellbeing of pets, has won a coveted award from one of the UK’s biggest business associations.
Burns won the Excellence in Community Relations award at the recent South Wales Chamber of Commerce Awards, held in City Hall, Cardiff, on Thursday 8th March.
The award recognised Burns Pet Nutrition’s dedication to supporting its community initiatives, through its charitable arm – The Burns Pet Nutrition Foundation.
The family company works tirelessly to support a wide variety of causes, including a variety of schemes which sit under The Burns Pet Nutrition Foundation. Of its many schemes, one is The Better Tomorrow Programme, which develops exciting new projects and partnerships that help to enhance the lives of disadvantaged people by offering practical recreational facilities and life skill opportunities.
Additional schemes are Burns by Your Side – a specially developed reading-to-dogs scheme, which uses trained volunteers and their companion dogs to help children improve their reading skills and communicate more confidently – and Burns Charities of the Year, which allows the company to support multiple charities in need of support and funding.
The charities Burns Pet Nutrition is supporting throughout 2018 are Forever Hounds Trust, Dogs for the Disabled and UK German Shepherd Rescue. Burns will be supporting these charities in several ways, such as supplying the charities with its pet food, providing nutritional advice by its team of animal nutritionists, as well as donating funds to the charities.
The Swansea Bay Business Awards which took place earlier this year, also saw John Burns, veterinary surgeon and founder of Burns Pet Nutrition, win Lifetime Achievement Award, as well as Burns Pet Nutrition winning Manufacturer of the Year.
