Evidence for the Use of Avocado-soybean Unsaponifiables (ASU) in the Management of Osteoarthritis

Osteoarthritis is a debilitating, degenerative condition which affects more than 200,000 dogs in the UK each year. While management generally involves a multimodal approach, it often features use of non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) and other anti-inflammatory and analgesic pharmaceuticals, which present varying potential side-effects. There is much ongoing research into the role that nutraceuticals can play in the management of osteoarthritis. Gemma Ives of Protexin examines the use of one of these, AvocadoSoybean Unsaponifiables (ASU).
